Eyck Thormann, who already has created many tasty tea-cocktails together with us, won the bartenders' state championship - with a samova cocktail.

At the moment, he and the samova team are working on the cocktail-book "samova Tee-Cocktails", in which 30 drinks and their tea-derived variations (with and without alcohol) are presented and which will be on for sale in May.
He made some time, however, for a short interview.

Congratulations, Mr Thormann. With which Cocktail-creation did you win the state championship?
With a drink I called "Elder Tea" as it contains elderflower syrup. It is based on two teaspoons of Team Spirit tea
which I mixed with Henrick's Gin and Rose's Lime Juice and then refined with Cranberry Nektar and served on ice. (recipe: see below).
Why did you chose a tea cocktail as your drink for this competition?
On the one hand because I am much into this subject at the momtent because of writing this book. On the other hand I chose this cocktail because I am a big fan of tea. I love its lightness. I absolutely don't like coffee.
What do you like about mixing tea-cocktails?
As a citizen of Hamburg, it is a question of honor for me to use tea whenever possible. And with samova tea it is especially fun as they give spirits a surprising lightness and fruityness. Obviously this also convinced the jury. Tea-cocktails are in.

Making your own award-winning cocktail:

( ) Put the Team Spirit in a samova tea pot and mix it with Gin and Lime Juice. Let it seep for a minute.
Pour the mixture through a fine sieve or strainer into a shaker filled with ice cubes, add cranberry nectar and elderflower syrup and shake well.
Strain into a cocktailglass filled with icecubes.
