"Lazy Daze is our all-legal drug for relaxed daydreaming."
Esin Rager, samova founder
Inspiration
Die Hauptinspiration bei der Namensgebung unserer Schwarztee-Mischung lieferte der Song »Lazy Days« des romantischen Rebellen Robbie Williams. Die Textzeilen sprechen für sich: »The world can change in a second, so I find the sunshine beckons me to open up the gate and dream and dream .Then we will have - a jolly good time.«
The history of Lazy Daze
Lazy Daze belongs to the samova varieties of the first (tea) hour. For our tea dance on November 3, 2002, we wanted to present ten different tea specialties at the Hotel Atlantic in Hamburg. Esin, who grew up with black tea as a half-Turkish woman, preferred to drink the "Earl Grey" flavor at the time, but was usually disappointed by the overly strong and "unnaturally" scented versions on the market. She wanted a light version for afternoon daydreaming. For Esin, the classic song "What a day for a daydream" by The Lovin' Spoonful represented exactly the attitude to life that our "Earl Grey" variant should also convey. In the original version of Lazy Daze, a black tea of the Yunnan variety from China was combined with noble Darjeeling from India. The essential oil of bergamot unobtrusively contributed its part to the natural aroma of our organic black tea blend and gave it the typical taste characteristic of the "Earl Grey" direction. For our second version, valid today, we replaced the Yunnan tea with Assam from India, which gives the blend a spicier character. Much like the tea variety's godfather of character: Charles Grey, the second Earl Grey and British Prime Minister. He abolished the East India Company's price monopoly in the tea trade with China in 1833, was involved in the abolition of slavery in the British colonies and was the proud father of at least 16 legitimate and illegitimate children.
Inspiration
Die Leichtigkeit des 1966 erschienenen Gassenhauers »What a day for a daydream« von The Lovin' Spoonful inspirierte Esin 2002 zu unserer »Earl Grey«-Variante Lazy Daze.
